ONE GIRL, TWO SHOES, ENDLESS POSSIBILITIESThe Ethiopian distance running legacy is one of prestige. Yet while the men’s program has been well developed for many years, only recently has the women’s program gained momentum. Running for many young girls in the Ethiopian countryside is their ticket out of poverty; however despite a saturated pool of talent, many of these girls lack the basic tools to reach their potential- shoes.
For these girls, running is bigger than fame; it is a way to provide for themselves and gain independence. By collecting gently used athletic shoes, we can make a difference in their lives and truly provide an opportunity for greatness. |
